We are committed to the Government's principles of good regulation. We aim to be:
Transparent
We follow government best practice in the development of any policies or services. Where it is appropriate to do so, we work with the Home Office to conduct Regulatory Impact Assessments, ensuring that those affected by any changes to policies or services have an opportunity to comment on proposals.
We have already worked with the Home Office on RIAs such as those focused on our Approved Contractor Scheme and the development of licensing for Door Supervisors, Vehicle Immobilisers and Security Guards.
Targeted
We use the National Intelligence Model (NIM) to identify non-compliance and target our resources appropriately. This means that we don't have to conduct mandatory audits on those stakeholders who are compliant with licensing and instead can focus on those whose activities present the most serious risks.
We ensure our mailings are targeted and provide information which is relevant to stakeholder needs. We produce Industry Update for those individuals who are directly affected by licensing; we also produce Corporate Update for buyers and service providers. We publish a wide range of free guidance and information and stakeholders can sign up for information relevant to their needs.
