Log on and Follow Licence Progress

The Security Industry Authority (SIA) has launched an online licence application status checker to allow licence applicants to log on to the SIA website and follow the progress of their licence applications.

Applicants will be able to check that their licence application form has been sent to them and, once completed, returned to the SIA and accepted for processing, applicants will be able to log on and view the progress of the licence application from initial checks through to granting of the licence and dispatch to the holder.

Paul Douglas, SIA Assistant Director Licensing said:

"I am delighted that the SIA online tracker has been launched. We have listened closely to our customers through satisfaction surveys and workshops to get feedback on the application process.

We learned a lot from the experience gained throughout the implementation of licensing in England and Wales. We are aware of the challenges faced by companies in the training and licensing of their employees. The tracker demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement and customer service."

It is currently taking an average of six weeks to complete the necessary licence checks and to make a licensing decision on an application. This time starts from when a valid application is received by the SIA. Complex applications (for example applications subject to further CRB checks, qualification enquiries or those with overseas criminality checks) may take longer to process. The SIA contact centre will not respond to queries regarding licence applications until a six week period has elapsed.

Notes to Editors:

• A correctly completed application will only appear on the status checker once preliminary checks and scanning has been completed. This is currently taking approximately eight working days. Applicants should allow that time before checking on the progress of their application.
