11 July 2008: The Security Industry Authority (SIA) is inviting the private security industry, industrial, commercial and government sectors to participate and complete a questionnaire addressing in-house licensing.

This is part of the SIA's broad-based study to discuss the potential for licensing in-house security operatives, with a view to making a recommendation to Ministers on the way forward at the end of the financial year.

To complete the questionnaire, please visit www.the-sia.org.uk/in-house and return it to the SIA by 30 September 2008.

• The Private Security Industry Act 2001 does not require manned guards employed in-house to be licensed unless their activities are in relation to licensed premises.
