30 July 2008: Investigators from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and officers from Derbyshire Police, Erewash Borough Council, Amber Valley Borough Council and the Fire Service carried out a multi-agency operation at licensed premises in Ripley and Long Eaton last Friday.
The operation was part of an ongoing Derbyshire Police initiative targeting alcohol-related disorder in the night-time economy. Licensed premises were inspected and door supervisors were checked to ensure they held valid SIA Door Supervisor licences.
28 door supervisors were checked at 11 licensed premises; all were working legally with SIA licences.
Jacquie Parker, an SIA Head of Investigation said:
"Operation Relentless is a prime example of partners working together to help reduce crime and to make licensed venues safer for their customers. SIA licence holders are trained, qualified and fit and proper persons to work in their positions of trust."
Nikki Fountain, Licensing and Enforcement Officer at Erewash Borough Council said:
"In taking part in the partnership checks of SIA licensed door staff with both the SIA and Derbyshire Police, it was a pleasure to see 100% compliance within Long Eaton town centre."
Heather Adams, Acting Licensing Manager at Amber Valley Borough Council said:
"We are committed to working closely with our partners in Amber Valley to ensure that all licensed premises in the Borough are operating lawfully and that the safety of the public visiting these premises is maintained at all times." |
