Disclaimer
I understand that the on-line criminal record indicator will give an indication only of whether or not I meet the criminality criteria set by the SIA in order to get an SIA licence. (A licence will be subject to further checks on identity and the possession of relevant training qualifications).
The on-line criminal record indicator cannot give a guaranteed result without the necessary, detailed investigation that is carried out (in conjunction with the Criminal Records Bureau) at the time of application for an SIA licence, for which a fee is payable.
Fees for applications that are unsuccessful due to an applicant's criminal record (or any other reason) cannot be refunded - the fee is to cover the cost of processing the application.
The SIA reserves the right to amend and update offences it considers relevant. The offences that are considered relevant will be those in force at the time we make the assessment of the application for an SIA licence. I understand that offences not listed will not be taken into account in making licensing decisions. However, if my conviction was for an offence named in this list as a statutory offence, but at the time of my conviction it was an offence at common law or was defined in an earlier or later Act, the SIA will have regard to it in the same way as the listed offence. I also understand that an offence committed overseas will be considered where a like offence appears in the list.
