Following the publication of the new 'Get Licensed, SIA Licensing Criteria' booklet [GEN/08-09/06 (September 2008) L1 L02] the changes from the previous booklet are detailed below.

• Criminality criteria amended to:
  • Introduce the actual sentence or disposal given for a relevant conviction as an assessment factor.
  • Re-define the assessment of a conviction as 'serious' or 'significant'
  • Clarify our approach to considering remand time
  • Clarify our approach to multiple convictions and cautions
  • Clarify our approach to single and multiple conditional/absolute discharges and admonishments
  • Clarify our approach to juvenile convictions
  • Clarify our approach to renewals when new offences have been added to our criteria and they have an effect on an applicant
  • Clarify our approach to fixed penalty notices and penalty notices for disorder
• List of criminal offences amended and extended to include Northern Ireland offences
