MALAYSIA
Individuals who have a criminal record can obtain a copy of his or her criminal record from the Royal Malaysian Police on submission of fingerprints and requests must be made in writing as there is no standard application form. Alternatively, individuals can apply for a 'Letter of Good Conduct' that simply states whether or not the RMP hold a criminal record pertaining to the applicant. No conviction details are disclosed on a 'Letter of Good Conduct' so if it states a criminal record is held the applicant will have to apply for and produce their full criminal record.
If applying from within Malaysia:
Individuals should make their requests to the Central Criminal Registry within the Royal Malaysian Police quoting their identity card number and detailing the purpose of the request.

Fingerprints will be required if a criminal record certificate is requested or the applicant requires written confirmation that they do not have a criminal record.
If applying from the UK:
Applications for a Letter of Good Conduct can be requested from the High Commission of Malaysia. The application form requires 2 passport size photographs, 2 copies of identity card (if Malaysian), 2 photocopies of the passport, a self-addressed stamped envelope, and a postal order payable to the High Commission for £4 sterling for the application fee. The High Commission will then forward the application for a Letter of Good Conduct to the Royal Malaysian Police Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. The turnaround time is between 3 and 6 months. Applications for a full criminal record certificate must be made in writing, and enclose fingerprints, to the Central Criminal Registry in Malaysia.
