We set our competency criteria in consultation with the private security industry, training providers, awarding bodies and other stakeholders such as Skills for Security. A partial Regulatory Impact Assessment, published by the Home Office in late Summer 2007, set out proposals for any competencies that may be required for private investigator licensing.

Results of SIA Research

Since June 2005, the SIA has been researching the wide range of Private Investigators' roles, responsibilities, expertise and experience. This work was undertaken with extensive input from across the private investigator sector.

We are making the results of our research (download size: 183kb) available to allow the private investigator sector and other stakeholders to benefit from the best practice that has been identified.
