As part of our Stakeholder Engagement Strategy (download size: 166kb) we trialled an online message board. This trial ran from February 2008 to June 2008.
The message board provided a means for us to answer questions from individuals that would be of interest to a wider audience. It was not intended as a mechanism for one-to-one dialogue, and was unsuitable for answering specific queries regarding individual applications. It was also not suitable for change of address requests (for which we require documentary evidence) or requests for application forms.
We received in excess of 1,000 messages. The majority fell into the areas described above as being unsuitable for the message board. Many of the questions submitted dealt with topics that are already covered on our website and in our literature, such as the cost of the licence and the difference between front line and non-front line licences.
After careful review we have decided not to continue with the message board. The type of correspondence we received indicated that the message board would not achieve its intended purpose. Keeping it open confuses the issue of how to communicate with us, and diverts resources for little gain.
