You will need a licence if you work, or intend to work, in a specific sector of the security industry. Every individual person needs a licence.
It’s important that you know that it’s your responsibility to make sure that you have a valid licence.
If you already work for a security company, that company may well apply on your behalf, and on behalf of your colleagues, for the correct number of individual licences. Your company/employer will tell you whether they will apply on your behalf, or whether you will need to apply yourself.
If you are self-employed or are sub-contracted out by an agency you will need to apply. The procedure will be straightforward and easy-to-follow.
Security companies and agencies must make sure that each individual member of their staff has a valid licence.
Clients of security companies will not be held liable if someone does not have a valid licence, but they are advised to carry out their own checks as a matter of routine.
