SIA Licences – Door Supervision – Previous qualifications

by SIA Site Admin // December 4

Many door supervisors will have completed training course and hold qualification. Some of these qualifications will exempt door supervisors from further training and qualifications. Please see the table below for details. Only those qualifications shown will allow exemptions. Exemptions will remain in force until the SIA is satisfied that the SIA approved qualification for door supervisors is available throughout England and Wales.

Training Exemption Certificates

Even if you are fully exempt from the new SIA approved training or qualification, you will need to exchange your current certificate for the new one called “Level 2 National Certificate for Door Supervisors” before applying for your SIA licence.

If you do not have the new certificate your details may not be on the SIA qualifications database. This will result in your licence application being rejected and you will lose your application fee.

Before sending your licence application to the SIA, check that you have the new certificate. For more information or to exchange your current certificate contact the British Institute of InnKeeping on 01276 68 4449. The BIIAB will advise you on what you need to do to get your details onto the SIA qualification database.

Applicants from overseas who have a relevant qualification in door supervision or another security-related discipline may present their certificates to an awarding body for consideration for part accreditation. All overseas applicants will be required to be assessed in English language skills and in English legislation. We will only accept originals of any records produced. All documents must, where necessary, be translated by an accredited translation agency.
