The SIA has agreed with the Learning Skills Council (LSC) support for the door supervisor training. This arrangement, which only applies to England, will involve the establishment of delivery networks involving a ‘lead college’ working with a number of independent training providers. The Training Networks will be organised to cover sub-regional and LSC areas.
A Lead College for each Training Network and independent training providers as ‘Network Members’ will be appointed via a bidding process. All networks will be approved by the national and local Learning and Skills Council.
Entry into these networks through a bidding process and bids will be considered from all training providers who have the SIA endorsed awarding body approval to offer the new recognised door supervisor qualification. The decision for entry into a network will be the lead colleges.
It is important to note that there is no mandatory requirement for training providers or colleges to work within a Training Network to offer the recognised door supervisor qualification. Training Networks have already been established in Hampshire & Isle of White as the pilot and in the South West region of England and further Training Networks are now planned for the remaining regions. Training providers seeking to be involved in these networks should follow the process below:
- Read the two documents:
- A Network Approach to the Delivery of Door Supervisors Training & Licensing
- LSC/SIA Door Supervisor Network Approach – Bidding Document for Network Members
- Check to see you meet the necessary criteria for appointment
- Read the Schedule timetable of key dates
- Complete the bidding document
- Submit your application via the bidding document to the appropriate Lead College
The SIA and the LSC are currently undertaking a review of this process to map more accurately the demand needs and thereby inform the requirements for training provision. It is likely that further network lead colleges will be announced in due course based on this review and on-going discussions between the SIA and the LSC.
