Criminality Checks

An important part of our job is to reassure the public by preventing criminals from working within the private security industry. Therefore, we will assess each applicant’s suitability for a licence according to their integrity and professionalism. We will do this in accordance with our criteria and we will be rigorous, consistent and fair in our approach.

Background
This section explains our criminality criteria.

Overseas residents
If you have spent six continuous months or more overseas you must provide evidence of a criminal record check from the country or countries covering that period.

Obtaining a translation
We will need the originals of any documentation sent to us. Where these are not in English, they must be translated into English by an accepted translation body. This section provides you with a list of these.

Overseas / Armed Forces
You will need to provide evidence of a criminal record check if you have spent 6 months or more serving overseas with HM Armed Forces.
